I have an interview with home depot next week. I really need to get the job, i have been out of work for 3 months. Any advice on what a manager there would like to hear?

smile a lot and tell him how much you enjoy serving people. also, you are thinking of making retail a career.
dress neat, clean and well groomed.

Well, I Would Suggest Knowing The Store. You Know, Knowing The People, where Things Are And What You Would Need To Know.
I Would Also suggest Wearing Nice Clothes, Having A CONVINCING Smile [Not A Fake Model Smile]. And Also Being Pleasant, You Know: Not Talking Too Much, being considerate, And Picking Up Things On The Floor, If you Walk In And Something Is Dropped, Pick It up. Managers Love Clean And Considerate People!

Good Luck! Hope These Help And Hope you Get The Job!

I know what they don’t want to hear, first off. They do NOT want to hear desperation. Believe me I know how desperate you feel to get ANY job after three months.

As far as what they’d like to hear. That you would really like to develop/improve (whatever the case may be) your customer service skills. Why you want to be employed there. Do you like working with tools, sharing your knowledge of home improvement with others, like helping ppl? It could be anything, but I would tailor your answers toward working at that store. Maybe go in as a customer and see what it’s like there. Perhaps, ppl are really nice and helpful with customers and you want to be a part of that.

Just some thoughts hope it helps.
