J1M asked:

I went to the home depot web site and applied a month ago for another job no response. And 2 weeks ago I applied for the Merchandising Execution Associate, I have more than 3 years of Merchandising experience. My question is for anyone who works for home depot or use to, how can I get this job?

Fill out an application every week. They will call you soon enough.

I would just call your local store office & ask for human resources. Just ask them how to apply & then can help you.

There is WAY too much competition out there….and I heard today that Home Depot layed off a LOT OF PEOPLE recently throughout the country. I just went back to work after being laid off for 3 months!! It’s hell “out there” right now. I even applied for a secretarial position with our School Board and 254 PEOPLE applied for the same position. They told me - last year, at this time, they were lucky if they got five applicants. Keep your options open — I’m not kidding. Get on monster.com (you may have already done this) — jobs are HARD to come by right now. BUT I DO WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK.

Unfortunately, apply and wait. You may get better luck if you know where a new store is opening.

I am the best person to ask about this because I am a direct recruiter for The Home Depot. Home Depot is what they call a “Government Contractor” because they do lots of contracts with HUD, and government backed housing agencies. You’re probably saying so what…well this means that Home Depot is very strict with their job requirements. You MUST, I repeat you MUST have exactly what the job description says before they will contact you. If you do not have every skill set on the job description that you saw, you will NOT get a phone call from them. I know it sucks but that is how they operate due to their strict government regulations. Now if you do have every single skill they are looking for, and still haven’t got a call, their recruiting process is very, very slow so just be patient and if they are still recruiting for it, they will call you.
