Why do girls have to work at home depot?

home depot
Bob B asked:

Girls drive me crazy!! They should just do girly things and stick with something they are good at. Theres this stupid girl who cant even lift a heavy box at Home Depot who I know and she doesnt even know what she is doing and she isnt even athletic!! Why cant ONLY guys be allowed to work in construction or at certain stores when GIRLS should just stick to cooking and fancy girly jobs?!!! I know I am racist towards women but its true!

it may interest you to know that women are actually capable of almost everything men are, within reason.

They are not constructed to be as physically strong as men

are you saying that women are a seperate race from men?

i think the word youre looking for is chauvenist…

      ..or gender biased..

      ..or something less diplomatic

      this just in

Why shouldn’t they? We can be just as smart, knowledgeable, and physically able as men. If a girl/woman or boy/man works there, isn’t it up to the employer to make sure that person is trained?
Maybe if a manly man like you worked there, instead of being on the computer, they wouldn’t hire us.

You raise a good point. They shouldn’t be hired if they can’t do what the job entails, however I don’t think that means all women shouldn’t be able to work there. I believe that women and men should have equal rights when it comes to a job. If a woman meets the requirements to the job then I don’t see why they couldn’t work there. If a man couldn’t lift a box then they shouldn’t work at home depot either.

      ps. It’s sexist, not racist. : )

      You are “racist towards women”…

… this clearly demonstrates your knowledge relating to the usage of, yes, even the word ‘racist’.

I am sorry, but I fear that there is a deeper, fundamental question that you should be asking yourself. I can only hope that you are indeed, merely joking, although this would indicate that you are abusing the Yahoo! Answer function. Oh, well.

You’re dumb, which explains why you work at at the Home Depot.

You are not racist, the word is sexist.

Also girl and women have the right to work at any job they want. I know women who work for home depot who do NOT act like how you are describing. Don’t take 1 or 2 lazy people and try to act like everyone is like that.

I know what you mean, I hate that crap (weak females who act like just bc they are the opposite sex they don’t have to do squat)..I used to work at home depot in the millwork department and I used to have to reset all the displays so I would be lifting heavy ass doors and windows and all the guys would come up to me asking if I needed help, I always got annoyed bc they didn’t think I was capable of handling it on my own. WTF, why would I take a job if I couldn’t meet the requirements (such as heavy lifting)? Now that I’m in the Army, the same shit goes on…

Your just scared that women are doing stuff that men are good at. Just get used the fact that women are just as good as men in certain areas. Men shouldn’t be getting jobs as chefs, nurses and etc…

LOL LOL LOL!!! Ha ha live with it, get use to it because women are always going to take on a mans job! LOL

a lot of girls know that they don’t have to lift a heavy box, since there’s almost always a guy who is more than happy to show off how manly he is. maybe you’re just jealous that she works smarter and not harder.

It doesn’t bother me until I’m asked to do all the heavy lifting or work with people who hate the job.

I think that employment should be non-discriminatory. Either sex can legally work at Home Depot or any other employer. If someone cannot do their job, they should not be working in that position. However, this should not be sex driven.

BTW, there are many women who work in construction! At there is a whole association who represents women in construction. In fact, there are even some women owned construction businesses. When I was in high school, there were quite a few females taking industrial arts shop!
